Who is Clarence Adoo?
Clarence Adoo grew up with his siblings in a Christian foster family in Essex, where he demonstrated a great interest in music. At the age of six, he joined the young people's Salvation Army band where he began to learn to play the cornet.
He went on to study Trumpet at the Royal College of Music, London resulting in a freelance career playing different genres from pop, jazz (with Courtney Pine and the Jazz Warriors), to classical (with Orchestras and contemporary music with the London Sinfonietta).
In 1992, Clarence moved to Newcastle to take up a contract with Royal Northern Sinfonia.
In 1995 however, Clarence was in a tragic car accident which left him paralysed from the neck down and unable to continue his full time professional career in music. Following the accident he received little funding to help him restart his life as a paralysed man.
Today Clarence is using his Christian faith and music to inspire others, and has had many opportunities to get involved in music thanks to the development of the electronic Headspace instrument.

What is The Clarence Adoo Trust?
Following his car accident in 1995, Clarence's friends joined together to found The Clarence Adoo Trust, a registered platform where money could be donated and allocated to Clarence when he needs something that is not otherwise funded. The Trust does not make grants to music students, or those in similar situations to Clarence.
The Trust is a legally-constituted trust (which was set up in 1996) to channel and responsibly account for any money donated to help Clarence Adoo MBE.
The Clarence Trust is run by a group of volunteers who manage the site and all donations, thereby relieving Clarence of the task of having to track his finances and online presence. All donations given to the Trust go straight to Clarence Adoo and the work that he is involved in.
